Kaufman Container continues to expand its decorating capabilities based on customer demand. Its Special Services decorating division, particularly its heat-shrink labeling exemplifies the trend. Nearly 15 years ago Kaufman introduced its first heat-shrink line due to large demand from a lip balm customer. Once the capability was added to Kaufman’s range of decorating options, its heat-shrink business quickly expanded.

About five years ago, the Cleveland, OH-based company added a new piece of equipment to work with larger containers—expanding the size range from 1oz. to one liter. Most recently, Kaufman added a steam tunnel option to the hot-air means of labeling it currently produces; this allows more diversity and another alternative to its heat shrink capabilities.

According to Kaufman, the advantages of using heat-shrink labeling include the ability to label over compound curves, to decorate very unique shaped bottles, and to offer 360-degree display area with graphic interest. Almost any material can now be labeled—including plastic, glass, and metal—and the product can be filled or unfilled on the line.
